Thank you for your support! An Evening of Wine and Seeds sold out a week in advance. The concept and format were a first for London and, should we do it again next year, we'll have a larger hall with a proper sound system, real food at the concession, and perhaps a shorter program. Of course we'll keep the excellent wines, the generous seed table, the distinguished speakers, the timely message, the green marketplace, the upbeat mood and, of course, the hilarious GASPies.
Your back garden is more important than you think!- Read the AltLondon story -- with text of GASP music and poetry!
- Read Penn Kemp's "Ode to Tim Two Bits" from the GASP awards
- Read the text of Joe Cummins' presentation Terminator Corporations' Suicide Seeds (as pdf) or as Word document
- Read Harry Jongerden's handouts on organic gardening and lawn care: Chemical-Free Gardening (as Word doc) and Pesticide-Free Lawn Care (Word doc)
As petroleum-based industrial agricultural wanes, the backyard garden and mixed farm will replace industrial agribusiness. Economies will be intensely local, and food production will be paramount. The "victory garden" will rise again, and small cities surrounded by good agricultural land may actually thrive in a post-oil world. People need to remember—or learn, if necessary—how to grow real food, in real soil, on land close to home.
An Evening of Wine and Seeds has wine, politics, activism, experts, seeds, horticulture, markets, and beautiful music for all. Proceeds go to the Aeolian Hall restoration fund and the Old East Village Community Association
